How are pastured free-range eggs different to standard free-range eggs?

Our pastured free-range hens are raised in paddocks.

This means there are NO cages or sheds. Unlike intensive free-range farming systems, our hens live outdoors in big open pastures, roost in mobile nesting trailers and are completely free to peck for seeds, insects, plants and roam as they please 24 hours a day.

Why are pastured eggs better for you, your business and your customers?

Our happy hens have freedom to roam and a more varied diet than supposed ‘free-range’ hens. Splendid hens produce incredibly creamy, nutrient dense eggs that taste delicious and cook beautifully.

A pastured free-range egg is packed full of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, D, E, K2, B-12, folate, riboflavin, zinc, calcium, beta carotene, choline, and tons of omega 3 fatty acids.

After almost 10 years we have made the difficult decision to process our last Splendid Egg.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone that bought Splendid Eggs throughout the years and supported our little business.

Selling our eggs into cafes, restaurants, butchers, bakeries, local supermarkets, direct to customers at farmer markets and donating to local community events and organisations gave us such a wonderful insight into the incredibly creative and passionate people in our community.

The relationships we built selling our product was one the best parts of The Splendid Egg and we cannot thank you all enough for your support of local, small scale, fresh produce made directly on family farms.

We would also like to thank our brilliant team that has worked with us over the years in our processing shed. We could not have done this without you.
